Dad Films Kids Slipping On Ice

Winter is coming in Southern Utah. Luckily, the St. George area does not have to deal with much ice. If you do come across a patch of ice, please notify the premises so that they can make the area safe. McMullin Injury Law does not condone this Dad’s behavior, he could have easily pulled up and warned the kids about the ice rather than filming their demise. That said, as long as no one was hurt, its hard not to laugh.

Slip and fall injuries, however, are no laughing matter. Unfortunately, sometimes a fall can result in a serious injury. Some of these incidences are not preventable, but others are. If you have questions about the law regarding slip and fall injuries, please visit the Free Legal Resources section of our website, or give us a call. We represent injured clients throughout Southern Utah, including: St. George, Cedar City, and Hurricane, as well as Mesquite, Nevada.

Police Statement on Crosswalk Safety

Some mistakes cannot be undone. St. George area schools host near constant foot-traffic. Most of those pedestrians are shorter than the hood of your car. The St. George City Police Department recently issued a public statement on this issue. The statement serves as a reminder that there are 19 school cross walks in the St. George area. We need to drive carefully while driving near any one of them.

Most of these cross walks have flashing lights and part-time city employees standing by to assist the children for a half hour during the morning and a half hour in the afternoon. These precautions are not enough. Drivers must be aware that the children do not always utilize the cross walks. The part-time city employees and the officers assigned to each school do their best to ensure safety. Members of the St. George community should be courteous and respectful to these officials.

Next time you are driving near a school, slow down. Do not text and drive. Be aware of your surroundings, particularly during those busy traffic hours. One little mistake could change a life forever. As a community we can band together and ensure that children are completely safe on their way to and from school each day. Anthony McMullin, who serves as the mayor of “Safety Town” each year (safety town is a program that teaches local elementary school children how to stay safe and avoid traffic injuries) supports this effort and asks that we all do our part to keep the kids safe.

Hats Off to the Utah Jazz for Making a Difference

The Utah Jazz signed Five-year-old JP Gibson to a one-day contract yesterday. JP played for the Jazz last night in their Blue and White Scrimmage. JP suffers from Leukemia. The video below is pretty touching. This gesture was coordinated by the “Anything Can Be” project, which is a wing of the Millie’s Princess Foundation. McMullin Injury Law appreciates and supports businesses, big and small, in giving back to the community. What a great example of caring enough to make a difference. Best wishes to J.P and his family.
